About The Money Teardown
We tear apart the numbers so you don't have to.
The Money Teardown is a money channel and site for people who want the math, not the hype. We compare the best savings accounts, credit cards, brokerages and money apps, then pull real companies open to show exactly how they make their money. No fluff, no talking head, just clear breakdowns you can trust.
Money, taken apart until it makes sense.
Most money content is either a rate table with no soul or a hot take with no numbers. We wanted the opposite. We wanted the receipts. So we built a place where every claim comes back to a figure you can check, and every video ends with you actually understanding the thing, not just nodding along.
Why "teardown"?
Engineers tear down gadgets to see what is really inside. We do the same with money. We take an account, a card or a whole business model apart, lay the pieces out, and show you which ones actually matter.
Numbers first
We start with the rates, fees, spreads and fine print, then explain what they mean in plain English. If we cannot back a claim with a number, we do not make the claim.
No hype, ever
No "this one weird trick," no fake urgency, no cropped screenshots of imaginary gains. Just calm, honest breakdowns that respect the fact that this is your money.
Two pillars, one standard.
Everything we make falls into one of two buckets. One helps you keep more of your money. The other shows you how the big players make theirs. Both start with the same thing: the actual numbers.
Money Comparisons
Best savings accounts, credit cards, brokerages and money apps compared side by side. We line up the rates, fees and fine print so you can pick the winner in minutes, not weekends. When a link pays us, we say so, and it never changes the ranking.
Compare the best Pillar 02Business Teardowns
How real companies actually make money, explained with animated charts. We follow the dollars from your wallet to their balance sheet and show you the move most people miss. Our first one broke down how Costco's $1.50 hot dog quietly prints memberships.
See the teardownsNo fluff. No hype. No talking head.
Here is what you can count on every single time you read a comparison or watch a teardown. If we ever break one of these, call us on it.
We show our work
Every ranking and every teardown is built on figures you can trace. We tell you where the number came from and what it means, so you are never asked to just trust us.
We rank on the math
Products earn their spot on rates, fees and features, not on who pays the most. An affiliate link never buys a higher ranking. It just means we might get a small cut if the product was already the right call.
We keep it human
Plain words, contractions, real talk. We explain money the way you would explain it to a friend who asked, not the way a bank would bury it in a disclosure PDF.
We keep it current
Rates and offers move fast. We update comparisons when the numbers change and tell you the last time we checked, because a stale rate is worse than no rate at all.
How The Money Teardown makes money.
We tear apart how other companies make their money, so it would be pretty rich to hide our own. Here is exactly how we keep the lights on.
YouTube ads
When you watch a teardown on YouTube, the ads that run against it earn us a share of the ad revenue. You watching to the end genuinely helps, and it costs you nothing but your time.
Affiliate links
Some links to accounts, cards and apps are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only ever link products we would rank anyway, and we mark them clearly.
Want the fine print in full? Our complete affiliate disclosure and not-financial-advice note live at the bottom of every page, in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines.
